Using the work

Wallpaper licenses

What the five license labels in Wallo mean, and why it matters to check the terms for the wallpaper you want to use.

Read the terms of service

Start with the specific wallpaper

Licensing is recorded per wallpaper, not granted site-wide. A label describes the rights basis; it is not, by itself, permission to redistribute, sell, modify, or use an image commercially. If the exact terms are unclear, use it only as a personal wallpaper or ask us before doing more.

The five labels

How Wallo classifies licenses

01 / Creator-submitted

Original work

The uploader identifies the wallpaper as their own work. They retain copyright. You can enjoy it as a personal wallpaper; redistribution, resale, or commercial use needs separate permission unless specific terms say otherwise.

02 / Licensed source

Royalty-free

A source license may allow use without paying royalties for every use. It does not mean copyright-free or unrestricted. The source license determines whether commercial use, editing, attribution, or redistribution is allowed.

03 / Open licensing

Creative Commons

Creative Commons includes several distinct licenses. Depending on the exact one, reuse may require attribution or limit commercial use or adaptations. Check the specific license before using the image beyond a personal wallpaper.

About Creative Commons licenses

04 / Limited use

All rights reserved

The rights holder retains control of the work. Publication on Wallo does not grant you permission to repost, sell, or use it commercially. Keep to personal wallpaper use unless the rights holder gives you permission.

05 / Specific terms

Other

A permission arrangement that does not fit the categories above. Do not infer reuse rights from this label alone; ask us for the applicable terms if you want to use the image beyond a personal wallpaper.

Giving credit

A wallpaper’s detail page may show the creator’s byline. Credit is appreciated, but it does not replace any attribution or other conditions in the actual license. Check the terms before sharing or reusing a file.
